KTC Makes 1.33 Billion Baht Profit in First 9 Months, Grows 63% in Q3/2014
KTC scored a net profit of 1,330 Million Baht, or an increase of 65% in the first 9 months of this year while the net profit in the third quarter of 2014 increased by 63% from the same period last year to 504 Million Baht. Total spending for credit card grew 7.5% which was higher than the industry’s growth while the value of non-performing loan (NPL) was lower than the industry’s average. Personal Loans portfolio continued to increase at 12%. The company also plans to step up marketing campaign when year-end shopping season begins.
Mr. Rathian Srimongkol, President & Chief Executive Officer, “KTC” or Krungthai Card Public Company Limited,disclosed that “In the first 9 months of this year, the overview of credit card business in Thailand was quite sluggish, compared with the same period of last year while personal loans business continue to expand in parallel to the daily consumption of the consumers but the growth rate was lower”.
“As for the performance of KTC business in the third quarter, we still maintained a continuing growth rate in both the credit card and personal loans businesses. Our net profit during that period was 504 Million Baht or an increase of 63%, compared with the same period of the previous year or a rise of 7%, compared with the second quarter of 2014. As a result, the total profit that the company achieved in the first 9 months was 1,330 Million Baht due to an increase of 9% in total revenue. Although the company faced an increase of 10% in administrative cost, its financial expenses, bad debts and doubtful accounts had dropped by 6% and 1%, respectively.
“As of September 30, 2014, the total assets of the company was 50,852 Million Baht, an increase of 5% over that of 48,233 Million Baht in the same period of the previous year. Net account receivable portfolio was 47,005 Million Baht, an increase of 6% over that of 44,359 Million Baht in the same quarter of last year.The total number of membership accounts was 2.5 Million or an increase of 13% over the same period of last year. This can be broken down into 1.77 Million credit cards with net credit card receivables of 31,842 Million Baht; and 683,008 personal loans accounts with net personal loans receivables of 14,951 Million Baht. Credit card NPL dropped to 1.9% and personal loans NPL to 1.2% while the total amount recovered from bad debts was 452 Million Baht or an increase of 21%, compared with the same period of last year. The growth of total credit card spending was 7.5% which was higher than the industry’s average of 7.3%.
“The total revenue of the company in Q3/2014 was 3,624 Million Baht or an increase of 10% while the operating cost totaled 1,382 Million Baht or an increase of 11%, most of which incurred by the marketing promotional expenses. However, the company was successful in limiting the financial costs to drop by 5% while the doubtful and bad debts accounts decreased by 2%. The total expenses of the company was 2,989 Million Baht or an increase of 3%. As a result, the company’s profit was 504 Million Baht or an increase of 63% over the third quarter of the previous year.”
“In Q3/2014, KTC has an available credit line of 24,990 Million Baht, which consists of 18,030 Million Baht from Krungthai Bank and 6,960 Million Baht from other commercial banks. Debt to Equity ratio was 6.32 times which was lower than the target of 10 times.”
“KTC has a policy to maintain business growth and to participate in sustainable social development schemes in several dimensions. Our marketing plan in the last period of the year will focus on returning the profit to both credit card and “KTC Proud” personal loans members through the use of “Forever Rewards” to increase the worthiness, membership base and stimulation of consumer spending in large provincial towns. Special privileges will be offered every last Friday of the month throughout the year. For members of “KTC Proud” personal loans, KTC will regularly organizes marketing campaigns to create awareness and to promote the existing and new members to use the installment plan whose term is as long as 36 months when the total sum of payback is 3,000 Baht up. Moreover, members will have chances to win big rewards to clear their debts and the refund to their accounts of which they can use it to enhance their business operation or to increase income.
“The company is confident that with the strategy which has been progressing well, the business direction and the growth projection of KTC will be achieved as set forth and the business performance in the year 2014 will be as expected.
